Server Studio JE allows multiple users to share a workstation, maintaining their individual preferences and server connection lists, with User Profiles.
A User Profile is a file that contains a list of stored database connections, user preferences and the list of add-on modules to be loaded into Server Studio JE IDE.
Each user has to create at least one
user profile to work with the Server Studio JE.
The User Profile files have extension .SSC and can be located at
any place at the network accessible from Server Studio workstation. The ability to
place a User Profile file at the network drive is very useful
when a user works with Server Studio JE from multiple workstations.
By default, the user profile files are created in the profiles subdirectory
of the Server Studio root directory. These files can be copied, moved, deleted, and renamed
by means of the operating system.
User
Profile file is locked using password protection. This password protection secures your sensitive information,
such as stored database access passwords using strong encryption algorithms. This ensures that
only you can decode and use stored database passwords. This feature provides you with a single
log on to multiple database servers.
You can also choose not to save database passwords in your user profile. In this case you will have to login into database server every time you use it from the Server Studio IDE.
The User Profile Loader dialog box is always opened when the application started allowing you to select the user profile and login to it. You can open the New User Profile dialog box from the the User Profile Loader or directly from the IDE after you login to one of the existing profiles.
