Resetting a Certificate Password

You change your User Certificate password in cases when you forgot it or when you think that your current password was compromised.

To change your User Certificate password if you think it was compromised:

  1. Launch the application
  2. In the User Profile Loader dialog box press the Reset Password button. The Registration Wizard will open.
  3. Enter the SAMS Password. Any email message from the SAMS containing your certificate or copy of the certificate include SAMS Password. Press Next button. Press Next button.
  4. Enter new certificate password and password confirmation.
  5. If your workstation has a direct Internet connection, the wizard will attempt to connect to the SAMS and the user certificate file will be emailed to you. If your workstation does not have Internet connection or it is behind a firewall, the certificate request file will be saved under \register subdirectory and you should e-mail this file as an attachment to register@serverstudio.com
  6. After you receive a new certificate from the SAMS, save it somewhere at the hard disk.
  7. Login into your current user profile
  8. Choose File -> User Profile -> Properties top-level menu.
  9. Press Change button in the User Certificate box.
  10. Select the new certificate file and press Open.
  11. Press OK in the User Profile Properties dialog box.
  12. Restart the application. Now you should login using your new certificate password.

To change your User Certificate password if you forgot it (you will not be able to login into your existing user profile after that):

  1. Launch the application
  2. In the User Profile Loader dialog box press the Create New Profile button. The New User Profile dialog will open.
  3. Choose your user certificate file and press the Reset Password button. The Registration Wizard will open.
  4. Enter the SAMS Password.  Any email message from SAMS containing your certificate or copy of the certificate include SAMS Password. Press Next button.
  5. Enter new certificate password and password confirmation.
  6. If your workstation has a direct Internet connection the wizard will attempt to connect to the SAMS and the user certificate file will be emailed to you. If your workstation does not have Internet connection or it is behind a firewall, the certificate request file will be saved under \register subdirectory and you should e-mail this file as an attachment to register@serverstudio.com
  7. After you receive a new certificate from SAMS save it somewhere at the hard disk.
  8. In the New User Profile dialog box, create a new profile using the new certificate file and new password.
