The NetUpdate process allows you to check the SAMS for existence of software updates or new add-on modules and automatically installs these updates on your system.
If your workstation has a direct Internet connection, the NetUpdate checks for and installs the software updates online. Otherwise it generates a request file, which should be sent to register@serverstudio.com If there are any updates for your system, the e-mail message with the URL link to update archive file for your system will be emailed to you. You can download this file and install it offline.
The Server Studio JE allows multiple versions of the same module to be installed simultaneously. NetUpdate do not override the previous version of the module but rather installs a new version into its own subdirectory and changes your user configuration to set a new version as active. You can rollback to a previous state or roll forward to a newer version at any time simply by switching the active module version using the Configuration Manager dialog box. It allows you to try a beta or evaluation version of some module while maintaining your current purchased version intact.
The NetUpdate changes the configuration only for the user who runs the update process. As a result, if multiple users work at the same workstation, they will not be automatically affected by each other updates. Any user can explicitly force the system to use newly installed updates using the Configuration Manager dialog box.
